Passing of a Brother.

Brother John Hirsch passed after a long battle with Parkinson's disease/Cancer. John was a 1966 graduate of OHS/AOT.

Son of  Brother B.A. Schoen, dies suddenly.

Daniel Donovan Schoen Esq., 45, the eldest son of  Baldwin Brother,  B.A. Schoen, passed away Oct. 15 at his home in Denver, CO. The coroner’s report listed an intracranial or berry aneurysm as the cause of death.

Schoen is survived by his wife, Debora and daughter, Anabelle, as well as his mother, Jane Stedman Schoen, his parents B.A. and Ann Schoen, brothers Patrick (Tracy) and David (Lindsay), sister Molly (Jonathan) Quigley as well as eight nieces and nephews, many aunts, uncles and cousins who all loved, admired and enjoyed being with him.

Schoen lived in or visited Baldwin every year and had many friends on Long Island. He worked as a bus boy at Otto’s Sea Grill as a teenager and tended bar at the Sportsman’s Cafe on Woodcleft Canal when it was affectionately known as the “Bucket of Blood” by patrons and critics.

Schoen graduated from the University of Colorado, Denver and also attended the Webb Institute. He studied post-graduate economics at Michigan State University and earned a J.D. from Denver University Law School.

He was the Executive Director of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar and was an outspoken opponent of the death penalty. Schoen was a gifted athlete and enjoyed windsurfing, rollerblading and snow boarding.
